Your scopes should be calibrated to house sync [on ext] and house bars.
The cameras should then be sync'd in bars [horiz, subcarrier, etc] to match the house signals. Once this is done, you can shade.
Shading is done mainly with the vectorscopes, white balance should be tweaked so that a white object appears in the center of the vectorscope [uncolored]. Master black simply adjusts how much of the black end is crunched and/or boosted; iris should be set so that true white is 100 IRE, most white-ish objects should be around 70-80 IRE (sorry, can't really describe this in more detail).
