please help. video to dvd player

i have an art show comming up, in which a film that i created will be dispayed. last time i hooked my laptop up to a projector. easy, it worked fine but i really want to use a dvd player instead of my laptop.
all i need to know is how to get a video file (avi, etc), burn it on a dvd and play it on a dvd player! i went through a whole pack of blank dvd's and still nothing. they play on a computer fine, but not a dvd player.

i have a dvd+rw burner and dvd+rw disks. i have nero software also. please, someone, show me were to go. thanks

You need to use DVD Authoring Software [not just burning software] to make a DVD playable on a DVD player.
